A New Agenda

Hello, loves! It has certainly been a while.

Due to grad school, personal stuff, and just life in general, Janice and I were forced to take a lengthy hiatus from our beloved project. But we are happy to say that it is back! ...Sort of.

Back in the day, Janice and I always chatted about having our own film & theatre production company, where we'd work with the people we love and respect and make the kinds of projects we want to see made. The Wellesley Project was the first solid idea we had for it, and we went forth with thunder, impassioned. For more than a year, we conducted interviews, threw around script ideas, did character development, and transcribed like mofos. But ultimately, we got too overwhelmed to continue.

We realized that our docu-feature was too big, too involved for a first project. So we took a well-deserved break, then came back together and restrategized. What came of that was our new project, which we're working on now: a night of ten-minute plays.

We've assembled a team of wonderful writers, all women, mostly Wellesley alums, and started doing workshops just a few weeks ago. There's no theme for the show, nor a format of any kind (yet). We're just a bunch of chicks writing original plays, hopefully to be performed in the Wellesley tradition (with cross-casting, of course).

Basically, this is just to let you all know that we're back in "the studio" again. We're starting small. But hopefully our little inaugural project will provide the needed short, sharp shock (haha) we've needed to finally get this company off the ground.

If any of you are interested in potentially auditioning or writing a piece (it's not too late!), please contact us at thewellesleyproject@gmail.com. We're hoping to have all the plays set by March, so we can then hold auditions and go up sometime in April.

In the meantime, be sure to drop in here for updates on our progress!

Thank you SO MUCH for still being on this community and for persistently asking us, "Hey, what's going on with The Wellesley Project?" Hopefully we'll have a more satisfying answer in the coming weeks.
